01Turning DoorDash on and off
Admin → Integrations → DoorDash. Each location has a card. “Set up DoorDash” turns it on and sends the menu; “Turn off” stops sending the menu and stops taking orders here, keeping everything else as it was.
- Settings: prep time (what DoorDash tells guests an order takes), the delivery price markup, pickup instructions for the Dasher (up to 128 characters), and the hold-for-tap switch below.
- A location can be on DoorDash only after at least one of its menus has the DoorDash channel chip.
02Pausing for a while
Press “Pause for today” on the location’s card. DoorDash shows your store closed for 24 hours and sends no orders. “Take orders again” reopens it sooner. Orders already placed still come through and finish.
Pausing the whole restaurant in Restaurant & Hours (close early, pause) does not pause DoorDash by itself — an order that still arrives is refused with “Store Unavailable”. Pause DoorDash too when you close early.
03What arrives on the till
A DoorDash order appears on the till with a DoorDash tag, the guest’s first name, the items with their options and the guest’s notes, and whether it is a Dasher delivery or a pickup by the guest. Order Central has already confirmed it to DoorDash.
- By default the ticket fires to the kitchen at once and the till shows a view-only banner — nothing to accept.
- With “Hold DoorDash orders for a staff tap” on (Integrations → DoorDash → Settings), the order waits for a tap before it fires. DoorDash is still told “confirmed”, so tap promptly: the Dasher is already on the way.
- The order is paid on DoorDash. Nothing is collected at the counter.
04When an order is refused automatically
Before confirming, Order Central checks the order. It refuses, and DoorDash tells the guest, when:
- an item or option is 86’d on the till — “Item Unavailable … Out of stock”;
- an item is no longer on the menu — “Item Missing … This item is no longer on the Menu”;
- the restaurant is paused in Order Central — “Store Unavailable - Closed or Remodel”;
- DoorDash is turned off for the location — “Store is disabled for online ordering”.
A refused order never reaches the kitchen. The reason is kept with the order in Admin → Orders.
05Telling the Dasher the food is ready
Press Ready on the till (or bump the order on the kitchen screen) exactly as for any order. Order Central sends DoorDash the ready signal, and the closest Dasher is dispatched if one is not already on the way. Nothing extra to press.
06Cancelling a DoorDash order
Void the order on the till as usual. Order Central tells DoorDash, which refunds the guest. The reason you pick matters:
| Reason | What DoorDash does |
|---|---|
| Item out of stock | Cancels the order. Nothing else. |
| Other | Cancels the order. Nothing else. |
| Store closed | Cancels the order and pauses your store on DoorDash for 12 hours. |
| Kitchen too busy | Cancels the order and pauses your store on DoorDash for 15 minutes. |
The two pausing reasons are shown with their consequence in the dialog; choose them only when you mean to close.
When DoorDash cancels an order (the guest, or a Dasher who could not complete it), the order is voided on your till with the note “Cancelled by DoorDash” and its kitchen ticket is withdrawn.
07Following the Dasher
The order card shows the Dasher’s progress as DoorDash reports it: confirmed, arriving, at the store, out for delivery, delivered — with the Dasher’s first name and vehicle when DoorDash sends them.
08Where DoorDash shows up in your numbers
- Admin → Overview: DoorDash has its own line under Sales by channel, separate from Uber Eats.
- Admin → Orders: each DoorDash order carries a DoorDash section — where the guest ordered (DoorDash, Caviar, Storefront), the pickup code, when it was confirmed, and what DoorDash was told afterwards.
- Tips left on pickup orders are recorded on the order like any other tip.
